Title: Only One Topic: Praise Divine Mentor: David
Scripture: Psalm 145:1 I will exalt my God, the King; I will praise your name for ever and ever.
Observation: David was the anointed king of Israel. Yet in humility he is acknowledging that there is only one true King. He doesn't acknowledge this grudgingly or with jealousy but with praise and exaltation.
Application: I need to remind myself today of God's reign and headship in my life. He is the King of kings, the Lord of lords. What idol am I looking to today that has the potential to temporarily dethrone Him from His rightful place in my heart?
Prayer: Lord, you are King...period...there is no other! Enable me to humble myself today to your continued rule and reign in my life. Let my thoughts, my words and my actions bring glory and honor to You. Let me choose to exalt you and praise your holy name. Help me to be aware when I am replacing a substitute king for the ONLY King.
Scripture: Galatians 2:4 "This matter arose because some false brothers had infiltrated our ranks to spy on the freedom we have in Christ Jesus and to make us slaves."
Observe: Paul seems to be hammering home the point again that Christ has set us free from the religion of works based salvation (circumcision). There are those around us who want to make us go back to this slavery.
Apply: Make sure that those around us are not influencing us back into religion of works. This is our default mode and we must be aware of it all the time.
Prayer: Jesus, I praise you that through your perfect work on the cross I have been set free from the slavery of religion. I can have a saving relationship with you that is alive and dynamic. Thank you, in Jesus name, Amen
O: David says to look at you life. Your life is quickly passing by -- a breath -- a breath -- invision how long a breath is and see what your life adds up to be...
A: I wonder...are all my worries, anxiety, fears, struggles, stresses... are they worth it. If my life is but a breath... A breath is but 1 maybe 2 seconds long... WOW that's my life. Even if I breath slow and deep my life is short. I just need to remember that THAT IS my life.. 1-2 seconds. My focus should be praising and glorifying God. Letting Him have my worries, so I am free to live out His plan for my time here. Wow...A breath... Really?... Just a breath...
P: Father God, What a vision I have of my life. A breath. Help me remember this especially when I am anxious, worried, tired, or when I am just "wishing my life away for tomorrow".
With each breath I take I will make it WORTH something!

S: Galatians 1:11 "I want you to know brothers, that the gospel I preached is not something that man made up"
