  1. Title: Jesus is Lord

    Scripture:

Romans 10:9 That if you confess with your mouth, "Jesus is Lord," and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. 10For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you confess and are saved.11As the Scripture says, "Anyone who trusts in him will never be put to shame."[e]

Observe: Paul had been contrasting works with the Jews and faith for the gentile. Righteousness is the key. Can we be seen by God as perfect, without sin apart from Christ? He says here that you have to engage your heart and your mouth. Believe with heart and confess with mouth that Jesus is Lord. What does it mean to believe Jesus is Lord? Maybe that He is my master, my owner, my boss. He is in total control over my life. What He says goes. He is sovereign over all.

Apply: I need to see Jesus' lordship over my life. Help me to submit to your lordship and not question your plan for me, to not rebel against you. I believe that you died for my sin and that you were raised to life in three days and now sit at the right hand of God the father. Because of this I will not be put to shame!

Pray: Jesus help me to live today in complete submission to you as my Lord, my master, my boss. Help me to be obedient to your call on my life. May I make confession of you today with my mouth. Belief is present tense, ongoing confession not a past tense. Thank you for the cross. In Jesus name Amen
