S: Joshua 23:6-11 (AMP)6 So be very courageous and steadfast to keep and do all that is written in the Book of the Law of Moses, turning not aside from it to the right hand or the left, 7 That you may not mix with these nations that remain among you, or make mention of the names of their gods or swear by them or serve them or bow down to them. 8 But cling to the Lord your God as you have done to this day. 9 For the Lord has driven out from before you great and strong nations; and as for you, no man has been able to withstand you to this day. 10 One man of you shall put to flight a thousand, for it is the Lord your God Who fights for you, as He promised you. 11 Be very watchful of yourselves, therefore, to love the Lord your God. "
O:1. Joshua intertwines promises, warnings and instruction. 2. Warnings: Obedience (especially not to intermarry or worship other gods, cling to God,love God. 3. Promises: God fights for you, Israel will have victories over countries much bigger than her. 4. Instruction: The past. The incredible victories already experienced were because the Lord had driven out the nations... not because of Israel's strength.
A:In a way, I'm getting ready to move to a new land. I probably have some unrealistic expectations, and can think of this move as moving to the "promised land", where all my problems disappear. But like Joshua warned them, the battle is never finished. I need to remember the past, in the light of all God has done. God has won great victories. I have participated... but the source of the victories was God (not me). I need to be vigilant to obey God. There will be new temptations in Brno. Temptation to over schedule, so that I don't give God quality time. Temptation to replace prayer time with ministry, or fellowship, or just fun. I must also be vigilant to cling to God (walk by faith) and to love God. At this moment, the last 2 seem unnecessary. I can't hardly make it a day in my current situation without both of these. Tomorrow, I want to work on my purging questions, and also some purging scripture for my Sunday afternoon time with the Lord.
P:Lord, I praise you for all the victories that you have brought me through. This last 9 years has been a difficult time for me. You have taught me so much, and I’m grateful for that. But I’m also anxious to move on into the promised land. To taste the wonderful produce, and not live on only manna. To experience more ministry, more fellowship with other believers. To see more people become Christ followers. To be busier, and more fulfilled. To see you use my life for your glory. But Lord, I hear your warnings. If you are leading me to Brno, then I must follow the paths where you lead. This journey isn't about self-actualization, or about creating good stories for prayer letters. I am your servant Lord. Help me to not only hear your voice, but also obey. Help me to cling to you more and more, no matter if ministry succeeds or fails (in my eyes). Help me to love you more and more, and to walk by faith, and not fill that God sized vacuum in my heart with anything besides you. Help me to not make a god of ministry. Help my identity to always be your child. Lord never allow me to put self on the throne in my life. Ministry success scares me, because I know my heart. Pride over "my" success could be invisible to me, and yet be a great sin against you. Lord, I ask you to protect me from this. Show me the way of escape, give me wisdom in this area, and put people in my life who will hold me accountable. Lord I praise you for being the faithful God. You care about every detail of my life. I love you Lord, help me today to walk by faith, and to please you. Amen.
S: Matthew 8:8 "But the officer said, "Lord, I am not worthy to have you come into my home. Just say the word from where you are, and my servant will be healed."
O: This Roman officer had authority over soldiers and servants. He knew what authority rank was all about and he knew that Jesus was the ultimate authority. His servant was paralyzed and in much pain and he realized his own unworthiness to approach Jesus and have him enter his own home. Jesus was amazed by his faith and healed the man.
A: Do I see myself as unworthy of Jesus' presence? Do I see the power of Jesus' that I can say to Jesus, "if you just say the word he will be healed"? Jesus was amazed at this mans faith.
P: Jesus, I am unworthy to be in your presence. Only through the love of the Father am I able to spend time with you. Give me faith of this Roman officer who could see you as just speaking a word and healing his servant. Even the wind and the waves obey your command. I worship you today. IJN, Amen

S: Matthew 8:8 "But the officer said, "Lord, I am not worthy to have you come into my home. Just say the word from where you are, and my servant will be healed."
O: Jesus didn't need to come to officers house because of his power and officer didn't want him to come to his house because of his Jesus' greatness.
A: I need to believe Jesus can heal from a distance today and that he is also very great.
P: Jesus help me to believe you can still heal today. Help also for me to believe you are great and I am not.
