  1. Title: The Trinity
    Mentor: Paul

S: Ephesians 2:18 "Now all of us can come to the Father through the same Holy Spirit because of what Christ has done for us."

O: Paul was teaching the church in Ephesus how we used to be far from God because of our disobedience. We were subject to God's anger. But because of the cross we can come to the Father through the Holy Spirit.

A: Part of my understanding of the cross should center around the fact of my position before I met Jesus. I was dead, a foreigner, and an enemy of God BUT then in the midst of this position Jesus died so that I could be alive, a citizen and a friend of God.

P: Jesus, your grace is magnified when I focus on who I was before the cross. Let this drive me to my knees in humble worship as someone who deserves eternal punishment and is getting eternal reward! I praise you today Jesus for who you are and what you've done for me.

  2. S: Hebrews 12:9 "Moreover, we have all had parents who disciplined us and we respected them for it. How much more should we submit to the Father of spirits and live!"

O: God not only requires love from us, but also respect, much in the same way I expect those I love to respect me.

A: I need to view hardships that come my way as God training and teaching me. Instead of being upset or complaining, I need to be able to thank God for difficulties (either now or in the future) for the trials I experience, knowing they were meant for my benefit. And with this knowledge in hand, I should capitalize on these opportunities as challenges instead of annoyances or something that requires a quick fix.

P: God, it's easy to ask for an eternal mindset about problems and strife, but much harder to live that out. When the next problem that comes my way, help me to praise you for it, seek your will, and show you respect as the God who loves me deeply.
