S: 2 Kings 23:25 Never before had there been a king like Josiah, who turned to the Lord with all his heart and soul and strength, obeying all the laws of Moses. And there has never been a king like him since.
O: Josiah was single minded in his pursuit to put an end to idolatry. He burned idols down and put an end to those who lead in idolatry. He was passionate about leading in this way. It was God alone who was to be worshipped!
A/P: Jesus, help me to be this kind of leader that can identify idolatry and then get rid of it in my life and in my families life. You alone are to be worshipped. If I am putting my hope in other things, please help me to see it and then give me courage to put it to death.
S: 2 Chronicles 35:22 (NCV) But Josiah did not go away. He wore different clothes so no one would know who he was. Refusing to listen to what Neco said at God’s command, Josiah went to fight on the plain of Megiddo.
O: Josiah, while abolishing idolatry, missed hearing Gods voice through another person and died because of it.
A/P: Jesus may I hear your voice through scripture, through others, through circumstances.
