  1. S: Galatians 6:2-3 Share each other’s burdens, and in this way obey the law of Christ. If you think you are too important to help someone, you are only fooling yourself. You are not that important.

O: Paul in context was talking about helping other people with their sin. He was explaining that Jesus has a law to follow and we are to obey these laws. One of the laws was to share others burdens, to lighten their load. We have a thought that passes through our mind when we help others and that can be that we are too important to help them. Paul reminds us that we are deceiving ourselves to think this way.

A: I am getting "beat up" this week with helping the poor. I/We are going to the food bank once a month to start out helping the poor.

P: Jesus, would you help us as a family to know how to create more margin for the poor. We are not too important to take care of poor, widows and orphans. You heart is for those who cannot help themselves. Help us to take the first step in being obedient to your law Jesus...

  2. "S: Hebrews 9:8-9 (AMP)
8 By this the Holy Spirit points out that the way into the [true Holy of] Holies is not yet thrown open as long as the former [the outer portion of the] tabernacle remains a recognized institution and is still standing,
9 Seeing that that first [outer portion of the] tabernacle was a parable (a visible symbol or type or picture of the present age). In it gifts and sacrifices are offered, and yet are incapable of perfecting the conscience or of cleansing and renewing the inner man of the worshiper. "

O: 1) The Old testament way of sacrifices was insufficient. 2) Because of Jesus, our sins not only make us right with God (which is huge), but they actually cleanse our conscience …. And change the inner man.

A: Sometimes when I read the Old testament and I'm amazed how the Jews kept returning to their horrible sins. Yet, I totally forget that we have been cleansed by Jesus blood, and we have the Holy Spirit dwelling in us. We still sin, but we have a Spirit in us that encourages us to follow God and convicts us of sin. I need to thank the Lord for all he has given us as a result of Jesus death on the cross.

P: Dear Father, I see you as high and lifted up, and your train fills the temple. You are holy, you are powerful, you are the only sovereign. There is none like you. And yet, because of Jesus blood, I can run into your presence as you beloved child. You hold out your arms and I can crawl up on your lap, and just sit and enjoy our time together. Even if we are both silent, I can feel your love. Thank you Abba for sending Jesus to make this relationship possible. The most righteous person in the old testament didn't have this kind of access, and yet many times I take it so for granted. Also Father, because of Jesus death and resurrection you indwell us with the Holy Spirit. I also take this for granted, and don't realize what a gift this is. My life with you would be entirely different without the Holy Spirits indwelling. You also have cleansed, and continue to cleanse me from all unrighteousness. Another giant gift. All these mean that I can have intimacy with you 24/7. That wasn't possible before. Lord, I worship you for your absolute holiness, and praise you for your wisdom that sent Jesus, and thank you for the all of the provisions you have made that allow me to be your child and experience this intimacy with you, not because I'm holy, but because you have made provision that Jesus righteousness is counted as mine. Thank you Father. Amen
