  1. S: Exodus 20:6 (NLT)
6 But I lavish unfailing love for a thousand generations on those who love me and obey my commands. Deuteronomy 7:7-9 (NLT)
7 “The LORD did not set his heart on you and choose you because you were more numerous than other nations, for you were the smallest of all nations!
8 Rather, it was simply that the LORD loves you, and he was keeping the oath he had sworn to your ancestors. That is why the LORD rescued you with such a strong hand from your slavery and from the oppressive hand of Pharaoh, king of Egypt.
9 Know, recognize, and understand therefore that the Lord your God, He is God, the faithful God, Who keeps covenant and steadfast love and mercy with those who love Him and keep His commandments, to a thousand generations, "

O: 1)God lavishes his love on those who love him. 2)But we love because he first loved us. 3) God's love for us is not based on our merit, it is his sovereign choice 4) To love and obey God (they are not one and the same, but cannot really have one without the other) 5) When I love and obey God, there are benefits to my children and grandchildren. It isn't all about me. 6) God is the covenant keeping God.

A:I think that I really take for granted, or trivialize what God's love is like. I want to meditate on his love today. How is it different than human love. I want to thank God for this and talk to him about it in Prayer.

P:Lord, your love is so far beyond my comprehension. I love chocolate, I love mathematics. But that is not what you mean. I love Ryan and Sean, but that is not what you mean. You went so far as to send you son to suffer for 33 years on earth, so that I could have a relationship with you. You made it possible, knowing that many would reject the price you paid. Psalm 139:17-18 (NLT)
17 How precious are your thoughts about me, O God. They cannot be numbered! 18 I can’t even count them; they outnumber the grains of sand! And when I wake up, you are still with me! Psalm 40:5 (AMP) 5 Many, O Lord my God, are the wonderful works which You have done, and Your thoughts toward us; no one can compare with You! If I should declare and speak of them, they are too many to be numbered. LORD, I know that I did not choose you, but you chose me. I can't begin to grasp what this means, but I thank you. But I also grieve for the many, many who don't know you. I can't bask in your love without remembering them. I enjoy your presence every day, and feel you presence throughout the day. Lord, these people are missing the greatest gift of all, and are living in quiet desperation. Lord, draw them to you. Draw them to relationships with Christians. Lord, open our eyes so that we see what you see and feel what you feel about them. Lord, give me boldness to proclaim the truth, to ask probing questions, to take Holy risks. Help me to love people not just as an emotion, but also through acts of kindness, and revealing your character, and Gospel. Lord, I enjoy your love, and want to grow deeper in your love, but I also want to share it with the many non-Christian friends and acquaintances I have. Lead me to the lost that need to hear about you. Amen"
