  1. HOW TO SINK UP WITH GOD

Scripture: Psalms 1:2-3 Amp 2 But his delight and desire are in the law of the Lord, and on His law (the precepts, the instructions, the teachings of God) he habitually meditates (ponders and studies) by day and by night. 3 And he shall be like a tree firmly planted [and tended] by the streams of water, ready to bring forth its fruit in its season; its leaf also shall not fade or wither; and everything he does shall prosper [and come to maturity].Psalms 1:2-3 (AMP)

Observation: How to be blessed (not searching for blessings... but God's blessing)? 1) Delight in and desire the word. 2) Habitually meditate, study, day and night. 3) Results in firm roots. 4) Tended by God? The word? 5) Ready to bring forth fruit 6) When? In its own season 7) The fruit isn't at the expense of the plant. The plant itself doesn't wither. 8) Efforts prosper/come to maturity.

Application: I want to have God's blessing on my head. I don't want to do my own thing, but God's things, like Jesus did. But the path to being blessed isn't working harder or working smarter, or following the latest ministry fad. It is in meditating habitually on the word day and night. For the next 7 days I want to print out my SOAP notes for the day, then look at them to continue meditating whenever there is some spare time (while doing dishes, waiting for the bus, etc., as I prepare meals)

Prayer: Lord, I want to follow you more closely. I want to know you more. I want to meditate more. But my memory isn't what it used to be. I ask you to help me meditate on your word day and night. Help me to fill my mind with your thoughts. Help me to keep my mind stayed on you. Help me to keep you as the screensaver of my life. I cannot do this on my own. I cannot control my subconscious. But I ask you to reveal to me your ways and to take my thoughts captive so that I can fill my mind with your word. Amen.

  2. S: Hebrews 1:9 NLT "You love justice and hate evil. Therefore, O God, your God has anointed you, pouring out the oil of joy on you more than on anyone else."

O: Jesus has been anointed by God the father. He loves justice and hates evil. He has been anointed with oil of joy by God the father pouring oil on Jesus. He poured the oil of joy more on Jesus than anyone else.

A: Joy and Holiness are to be found in fellowship with Jesus who is the source of these attributes. They are not to be found outside of Him but in relationship to Him. He is to be worshiped and praised and admired and the sole source of our attention.

P: Jesus, I confess today as I also read in Hosea that I have committed spiritual adultery against you. I have worshiped other things than you. Yet you pursue me and love me. You are the source of all joy, you are the source of all holiness. Help me to pursue you today.
