  1. S: Titus 1:1b "teach them to know the truth that shows them how to live godly lives. 2 This truth gives them confidence that they have eternal life, which God—who does not lie—promised them before the world began"

O: Paul was instructing Titus on the Island of Crete to teach truth which resulted in godliness and this resulted in confidence of eternal life. God promised this life forever before time.

A/P: Truth comes before godliness. Part of knowing truth is applying it so that your life is changed. Jesus, help me to teach and to apply truth personally, so that I may be godly which results in confidence in eternal life.

  2. Mentor: David
Title: Where is the abundant, joyful, life?

S: Psalms 36:7-9 (AMP)7 How precious is Your steadfast love, O God! The children of men take refuge and put their trust under the shadow of Your wings. 8 They relish and feast on the abundance of Your house; and You cause them to drink of the stream of Your pleasures.
9 For with You is the fountain of life; in Your light do we see light.

O: 1) David didn't take God's steadfast love for granted. It was "Precious". yāqar: A verb meaning to esteem, to be valuable, to be costly. It has the basic idea of being highly valuable, worthy; it indicates a high evaluation put upon someone or something, also idea of rarity. 2) I can always take refuge in God and put my trust not in myself, or even a certain result I want. My trust is under the shadow of your wings (close to your heart). 3) I can dine continually on God's abundance 4) I can drink from your river of pleasures. 5) The fountain of life is a source for all that refreshes and sustains life; To see light is an idiom for “experience life” ESV Study Bible. The fountain of life is offered, but we must drink; the light requires being in the light (God's light)

A:I struggle so much with what my part is and what God's part is. Many times I want to do God's part (solve the problem) and don't want to do my part (generally wait patiently, pray and lean into God, while he works out the solution). This next week, every problem that starts to cause me anxiety, I will immediately bring to God in prayer. If I don't get relief from the anxiety I will increase the praying and fasting until the problem is 100% off my shoulders and onto God's.

    P. Lord, my life hasn't been real easy, and many times I've been thrown into situations that I haven't seen resolved successfully by others. I want to follow you even with the going gets rough. I don't want to worry because that shows lack of trust in you. You are always at work around me, but you know how hard it is for me to wait and do nothing but pray. I immediately want to jump into action, even before you have shown me what action to take. Lord, teach me how to calmly wait for you to lead. I think I heard your voice with this last problem, but I also heard so many other voices that it was just confusing. Lord, forgive me for taking this problem back over and over again, but I'm not sure that I've grown in this area at all. I want to lean into you, and still experience peace. I want to be a woman of peace and joy, even in the midst of the storm. Lord, change my heart, make me more like Jesus. Amen.
