Scripture: Deut 28:45 "If you refuse to listen to the Lord your God and to obey the commands and decrees he has given you, all these curses will pursue and overtake you until you are destroyed. 47 If you do not serve the Lord your God with joy and enthusiasm for the abundant benefits you have received."
Observation: Moses was saying that there were some basic things the Israelites needed to do: 1) Listen 2) Obey 3) Serve the Lord with Joy and Enthusiasm. Why should they? God had provided them with abundant benefits and they were His chosen people.
Application: Through this process of SOAP I am listening much better, however do I really listen during the day. Where is my joy and enthusiasm? Is it a choice? Is it my perspective on life?
Prayer: Jesus, I want to be a listener of you. If I listen, I will obey. Help me to choose joy today in the midst of whatever circumstances you give me. May I be enthusiastic because of the abundant benefits I have received.

Scripture: Galatians 5:14 "The whole law can be found in a single command, Love your neighbor as yourself.
Observe: Paul was saying that we need to love others as much as ourselves. He said that this sums up the rules of God.
Apply: I need to try not to make Ellie mad at me.
Prayer: Dear God, help me to not make Ellie mad at me by loving her as much as myself.
