  1. Title: Keep Your Promise
    Mentor: Moses

Scripture: Deuteronomy 23:23 "Make sure you do what you promised to do."

Observe: Moses was telling the Israelites to keep their camp Holy. One way of doing this is for them to keep their promises.

Apply: To keep my promises to God and to my family.

Prayer: Dear God, help me to keep my promises. Thank you for keeping your promise to save us from our sins!

  2. Title: "The Sinful Nature has been Nailed!"
    Mentor: Paul

Scripture: Galatians 5:24 "Those who belong to Christ Jesus have nailed the passions and desires of their sinful nature to his cross and crucified them there."

Observe: Our sinful passions and desires including, but not limited to lust, idolatry, anger, jealousy, selfish ambition has been nailed to the cross. Paul was making a strong statement that if you live a life that follows its sinful desires you will not inherit the Kingdom of God....Wow!

Apply: I want my life to be ruled / governed by the Spirit. Because of pride in my life, I have a hard time realizing where I might be weak, or if I am following my sinful desires in these areas.

Prayer: Holy Spirit, search me and convict me in areas that I need to repent of. Help me to keep short accounts on sin in my life. May you produce the gifts of the spirit in my life for your glory. I PRAISE YOU Jesus for being the only one qualified to take my sin and nail it with you on the cross. In Jesus' name, Amen

  3. Scripture: 2 Corinthians 11:2,3 "I am jealous of you with a godly jealousy. I promised you to one husband, to Christ, so that I might present you as a pure virgin to Him. But I am afraid that just as Eve was deceived by the serpent's cunning, your minds may somehow be led astray from your sincere and pure devotion to Christ."

Observation: Paul considered the Corinthians as his own children and as such, he was trying to teach and correct them. As I read the verses I thought of marriage. How deadly to marriage is flirtations and affairs. There is no such thing as an "open marriage" in God's eyes. In the same way our relationship with Christ needs to be without flirtations with the world. 1 John 2:15 and 16 says it well,"Love not the world, neither the things that are in the world. For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh and the lust of the eyes and the pride of life is not of the Father but is of the world."

Application: Each day needs to begin with renewing our vows to Christ. Repentance was key for salvation and continues to be necessary so that we can be available to be made holy. Reading the Word and letting it read us, memorizing Scripture, confession and repentance of sin, acceptance of God's forgiveness and rejoicing in it - all draw us back to Christ. Then communicating with the Lord throughout the day keeps me in touch with the Spirit's leading.

Pray : Lord, thanks for this leading as I've read Your Word - the idea of linking it to marriage. I've been faithful in marriage but not as much with You. I repent of that and ask that You continue to remind me. I desire a holy life with You. Amen

PS I thought of the hymn "O Jesus I have promised". Then as I was walking and going over memorized verses, I thought that Luke 9:23 is our renewal of vows each day and Lam. 3:22 and 23 is God's.

  4. Title: Pass It On
    Topic: Discipleship
    Divine Mentor: David

    Scripture: Ps. 145:4
"One generation will commend your works to another; they will tell of your mighty acts."

    Observation:
Pass it on! One person at a time, one family at a time, one generation at a time. God's works and his faithfulness will continue to be known and celebrated as we continue to talk about Him.

    Application:
Today I will speak of His goodness and faithfulness in my life. I will intentionally share a story of God's mighty acts with my children.

    Prayer:
Lord,I need to learn silence in many areas but guard and protect me against silence when it comes to testifying about YOU. Let my voice always be ready to speak about the great wonders you have done in the past and continue to do today.
