  1. S: Psalm 59:9 You are my strength; I wait for you to rescue me, for you, O God, are my fortress.

O: David was surrounded by Saul in his house. God was his only hope for rescue. God also was his protector.

A/P: God I am tired tonight after a big day, you need to be my strength. I thank you for rescuing me from my sin Jesus. Amen

  2. Title: Strength in Your Word
    Mentors: David and Jesus

S: Psalm 59:9 You are my strength; I wait for you to rescue me, for you, O God, are my fortress.10 In his unfailing love, my God will stand with me. He will let me look down in triumph on all my enemies.

Matthew 4:4 But Jesus told him, "No! The Scriptures say,`People do not live by bread alone, but by every word that comes from the mouth of God.'s"

O: In both passages David and Jesus say that strength comes from God. David against his enemies and Jesus from Satan. Jesus didn't try and reason with Satan, he just went to the Scriptures alone. Eventually Satan left him alone. We live by the Word, we are dependent upon the Scriptures for life (bread), without them we die.

A: God rescues us, is our fortress as we rely on His Word in spiritual battle. We are as dependent on the Word as people are on bread to sustain life. I need to have the Word ready for battle, for my life. What can I do in order for this to happen? Carry around the verse I am picking for the day. I need to start memorizing again, as I get older it gets harder to do.

P: Jesus, you provided the example for us in how to live life, how to go about warfare with Satan. We need the Word of God in our lives. Help me to always have it ready with me and in my mind, thinking about it throughout the day. We worship what we spend time investing in, help me to spend more time with you. In Jesus name, Amen.
