Title: Happy Are Those Who Do Not Work? Divine Mentor: David and Paul
S: Romans 4:6 "David also spoke of this when he described the happiness of those who are declared righteous without working for it: 7 "Oh, what joy for those whose disobedience is forgiven, whose sins are put out of sight.8 Yes, what joy for those whose record the Lord has cleared of sin."
O: Paul is speaking here about Abraham's faith. He is pointing out that it is not by works but by believing in God. He then speaks of the joy and happiness of those whose sins are forgiven, or are put out of sight, no longer remember, not even able to be seen. God has cleared our record, as though there was no sin to begin with.
A: Paul was speaking of the emotion of happiness and joy. When I am joyless, could it be I haven't been meditating on the fact my sin record is clean? Could it be that I am not aware of how kind God is to me to put my sins out of sight? Am I aware of the weight of my sin and the separation it caused me from God? I don't even have to work for this kind action of God, just believe that Jesus was my payment for sin.
P: Father God, your plan is amazing. Your love in putting Jesus on the cross for me was the greatest act of love someone could do. The perfect sacrifice for imperfection. I can and am made right with you not by works but by trusting in Jesus and his sacrifice. Give me perspective on life, forgiveness and sin today.
