  1. Title: Jesus the Superior High Priest

S: Hebrews 8:2,6 "There he ministers in the heavenly Tabernacle,s the true place of worship that was built by the Lord and not by human hands. But now Jesus, our High Priest, has been given a ministry that is far superior to the old priesthood, for he is the one who mediates for us a far better covenant with God, based on better promises."

O: The author of Hebrews is contrasting the old system with the new. The old tabernacle with the new. The old priest with Jesus our new High Priest. The old tabernacle built by human hands the new one, built by the Lord. The old one a copy, the new one the original no copy. The old had faults, the new one faultless.

A: A priest brings sacrifices on behalf for the peoples sins. Jesus brings the complete sacrifice to cover my sins. He mediates for me, he stands on my behalf. He represents me before God. Dictionary definition of mediator is: to bring about (an agreement, accord, truce, peace, etc.) asan intermediary between parties by compromise, reconciliation, removal of misunderstanding.

P: Jesus, thank you for mediating for me. I stand without blemish before God because of your perfect sacrifice. You reconcile me to God the Father. You are the one and only mediator between God and man, you are the only one qualified. I worship you today Jesus

  2. Title: The God of Breaking Through
    Mentor: David
    S: 1 Chronicles 14:11-12 (AMP)
11 So [Israel] came up to Baal-perazim, and David smote [the Philistines] there. Then David said, God has broken my enemies by my hand, like the bursting forth of waters. Therefore they called the name of that place Baal-perazim [Lord of breaking through].
12 [The Philistines] left their gods there; David commanded and they were burned. "

O: 1) David asked God if he should fight the Philistines. God said yes. 2) David went into battle. 3) David gave God the glory for the victory 4) He named the place.. The Lord of the breaking through. 5) The philistines… left their gods there. 6. The gods were destroyed.

A: I long for breakthroughs. Breakthroughs in my language learning, in making friends with Christians, in starting relationships with non-Christians, in finding an apartment, in losing weight, in my intimacy with God. I long for people to "leave their gods" and turn to the true God. I will pray today to the God of Breaking through.

Lord, I come before you today a little weary of looking for apartments. I know that you care where I live, but I'm so tempted to run ahead of you and make a decision quickly just to end this phase of adjusting to Brno. It is so hot here, that I just about pass out walking to these places. But Lord, I want what you want in your timing. Lord, today I got so hungry when I was walking to the apartment to look at it. It reminded me that I haven't experienced hunger like that for years. Then I thought about spiritual hunger. Lord, do I ever hunger for you like that? I want to Lord. I want to ache for you. I want to not only enjoy my time with you, but actually crave time with you. But there is no program to get me there. I must rest in you and wait patiently while you form me into your image. Lord, you are the God of breakthroughs. I give you the many areas of my life, and ask that you do miracles that will bring you glory, and for those situations where you do not choose to break through... give me patience and understanding that this too is part of your Holy Agenda in my life.. conforming me to your image. Amen
