S. 1 Chronicles 22:16-19 (AMP) 16 So arise and be doing, and the Lord be with you! 18 Is not the Lord your God with you? And has He not given you peace on every side? For He has given the inhabitants of the land into my hand, and the land is subdued before the Lord and His people. 19 Now set your mind and heart to seek (inquire of and require as your vital necessity) the Lord your God. Arise and build the sanctuary of the Lord God, so that the ark of the covenant of the Lord and the holy vessels of God may be brought into the house built to the Name and renown of the Lord. "
O: 1)David had lived his life as a warrior. He knew how to depend on God during constant warfare, when the pressure was on. 2) Now he instructs Solomon and Israel how to live in Peace Time, when the constant pressure was off. 3) He tells Solomon to arise and be doing (building the temple for God). 4) He also tells all of Israel to set their minds and hearts to seek (inquire of and require as their vital necessity) the Lord their God
A: David was a strong finisher. He kept the priority of seeking God as number one consistently throughout his life (except for a few episodes). He gave Israel the command to set their minds and hearts to seek …. Because this isn't activity that is easy or passive. We don't coast into seeking like that. I need to continue asking God how to seek Him more. Throughout the day today I want to record things God shows me or brings to mind, as I seek Him not only during my special time with Him, but 24/7
P: Lord, I praise you for your faithfulness to David. He wasn't perfect, and neither am I. Yet you placed in Him a strong desire to seek you as number one in his life, and you rewarded him with intimacy with you, like few men have known. Lord, I want to know you like that. I don't want to do Bible Studies just to learn more facts. I don't want to pray, just so I can inform you of my needs (which you know already) I want to know you. I want you to draw me closer. Lord, show me that paths I should take. As ministry starts consuming more and more of my time and thoughts, help me to keep my focus on my relationship with you as the one thing that I seek over all. And Lord, today I pray that I please you and bring you joy. Thanks so much for the joy you are bringing me. Amen
S: Hebrews 12:1 "Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a huge crowd of witnesses to the life of faith, let us strip off every weight that slows us down, especially the sin that so easily trips us up. And let us run with endurance the race God has set before us.2 We do this by keeping our eyes on Jesus, the champion who initiates and perfects our faith.s Because of the joys awaiting him, he endured the cross, disregarding its shame. Now he is seated in the place of honor beside God's throne."
O: Two important things to remember from this passage: 1) Strip off those things that hinder my walk with Jesus. 2) Run with endurance )pace yourself) 3)Focus my attention on Jesus 4) Realize it is Jesus who initiates with me and causes me to grow.
A/P: Jesus, you continue to speak loudly to me. Strip things away from your life so that you can RUN! When I ran marathons, I didn't carry any extra weight or I wouldn't finish. I focused my attention on my pace while running. I need to focus it on you now while running this race of faith. I trained for endurance, I need to train now. Jesus, I praise you for starting me running and helping me to finish. Help me to take off what I need to in order to finish strong!
