  1. S: John 13:38 Jesus answered, "Die for me? I tell you the truth, Peter—before the rooster crows tomorrow morning, you will deny three times that you even know me.

O: Jesus was pointing out to Peter that there was a discrepancy between what he had in head versus his heart. When it came to something much smaller like denying Christ and not dying for Hin, Peter failed the test.

A: my walk with Jesus is much different than I envision it. I think like Peter that my walk with Jesus is much farther along than it actually is. I am in preschool when it comes to knowing Jesus.

P: Jesus you are the well that doesn't run dry. You are worthy of my time in getting to know you. There is nothing elseore worthy of my time than you. May my words match my actions. May my heart align with my head.

  2. Title: Don't worry! Remember the Lord!
    Mentor: Nehemiah

    S:
14 I looked [them over] and rose up and said to the nobles and officials and the other people, Do not be afraid of the enemy; [earnestly] remember the Lord and imprint Him [on your minds], great and terrible, and [take from Him courage to] fight for your brethren, your sons, your daughters, your wives, and your homes. Nehemiah 4:14 (AMP) "

O: 1) The Jews who remained in Jerusalem were discouraged by many things (enemies taunts, read danger of enemies, the incredible amount of work to be done. 2)Nehemiah takes some action to reduce the danger 3) Then Nehemiah tells them to not be afraid. 5) Earnestly remembering the Lord is a command. To dwell on him, on His power, His purposes, His strength, His courage. 6) The next command was to fight for their families

A: Fear seems to happen when I magnify the problem, dwell on it, basically meditate on it. Usually my response to fear is to pray about the problem, and then try to distract myself until the problem has been resolved. But distracting isn't a synonym for earnestly remembering. Today as I start to worry about finding movers, the painting situation, the broken lawnmower, renewing my visa, my friend whose son committed suicide, I want to stop what I'm doing and enter into a few moments of magnifying God. Recalling how big he is and the victories he's given me already, as well as in the Bible.

P: Lord, thank you for the story of Nehemiah. What a man of God. Every problem he experienced, he went straight to you. Lord, I know that you are all powerful. I know that you can do superabundantly above all I ask or think. You have never let me down or failed me. And yet time and again I worry about the details. Lord, I come now and ask you to work out all these details for your glory. You know that I want all the details to work out smoothly. But Lord, I ask that you do a work in my life as I walk through this next month. Help me to respond to you weather my circumstances are easy or hard. Lord, Help me to run to you with every problem, and lay these at your feet. I know that you love me, and that you lavish your love on me, and give me only good gifts. Now Lord, I pray that today I will bask in your love, and enjoy your presence. I pray that your peace will rule in my heart, and that I will run to you with all my worries. You are the infinite God. You run the universe. I know that you can take care of all these details for your glory as well. Amen.
