S: John 12:43 (NLT) For they loved human praise more than the praise of God
O: in context John says even though Jesus performed miracles, many still didn't believe. Because they feared what others would think of them. They feared man more than God. Another interesting way to say this is, you want praise from man more than from God.
A: Human praise is addicting. "He's so nice". "he us a good person". "he"s so caring". We desire a pat on the back and yet this is a trap. It will lead us to places we shouldn't go....ultimately to unbelief in God.
P: Jesus, my flesh cries out for praise from man. May I seek praise from you and not man. May I recognize this trap and deflect praise of me to praising you. Teach me how to seek praise from you.
