  1. S: Romans 9:[15] "For he says to Moses, “I will have mercy on whom I have mercy, and I will have compassion on whom I have compassion.” [16] So then it depends not on human will or exertion, but on God, who has mercy."

O: Paul was teaching that in response to the question is God fair, God can sovereignly choose who to have mercy and compassion on. He is the creator and the created has no right to call out and say why not me?

A: This verse puts me on my knees in gratitude. There was no reason, based on the quality of my person, as to why God chose me. It was simply because He is the creator and can sovereignly chose whomever He wishes. I have struggled with this verse, however believe the intent is to make us fall in worship to Jesus and not to question why not someone else.

P: Jesus, may I worship you today as the giver of life spiritually. This was not of my own choosing, but yours. Yes I believe in you and yes I had to make the decision, however it could not have come about without your sovereign choosing and will. Thank you.
