S: 1 Cor 3:11 "For no one can lay any foundation other than the one we already have—Jesus Christ. 12 Anyone who builds on that foundation may use a variety of materials—gold, silver, jewels, wood, hay, or straw.13 But on the judgment day, fire will reveal what kind of work each builder has done. The fire will show if a person's work has any value."
O: Paul was emphasizing that it is important to build your spiritual work on a solid foundation - Jesus Christ. When Jesus comes to judge it will be revealed as to whether the work lasted. Some work is not profitable, some is. The work done in the flesh or contrary to Scripture will not last....it will be burned. Hay, wood and straw.
A/P: Jesus, would you help me to build on your solid foundation and then enable me by your power and strength to build with material in your kingdom that will last for eternity. I do things on my own strength and power and not yours and I ask today that you start the work on your foundation.
