S: Psalm 23:4 "Even when I walk through the darkest valley,I will not be afraid, for you are close beside me.Your rod and your staff protect and comfort me."Psalm 23:6 "Surely your goodness and unfailing love will pursue me all the days of my life, and I will live in the house of the Lord forever."
O: A familiar Psalm, however the words that stand out to me today are "close beside me" and "pursue me". David was saying that God was very personal. He is not far from us and at the same time he pursues us. Because he is always pursuing us, He is not far from us.
A/P: Jesus, thank you for new insight into this Psalm. Evidence of your pursuit is that you are not far from us, always close to us. That is comforting and I need to meditate on this today. When I am afraid, I must realize the truth of your pursuit and closeness to me.
S: Leviticus 2:9 (AMP) 9 The priest shall take from the cereal offering its memorial portion and burn it on the altar, an offering made by fire, a sweet and satisfying fragrance to the Lord. Numbers 8:13-14 (AMP) 13 And you shall present the Levites before Aaron and his sons and offer them as a wave offering to the Lord. 14 Thus you shall separate the Levites from among the Israelites, and the Levites shall be Mine [in a very special sense].
O: 1)For some reason, an offering is a sweet and satisfying fragrance to God. (mentioned over and over again in these chapters.) 2) The Levites were presented also as an offering to God. They must also have been a sweet and satisfying fragrance to the Lord. 3) The Levites belonged to God in a special sense).
A: I'm not sure a think much about how to offer God a sweet and satisfying fragrance. As a new bride, your mind thinks about what foods, or words, or acts of service will please your groom. I want to talk to God about this today.
P: Lord, you are the only God. You are almighty, you are wisdom itself, you are sovereign and nothing happens without being filtered through your loving hands. Lord, I want to please you. I want to bring you delight. I want today to offer you a sweet and satisfying fragrance, not just by my words of praise, or the meditations of my heart, but also by acts of service throughout the day, and by following your footsteps throughout the day. Lord, show me when I step off your path. Teach me those things that delight you most. Today Lord, that is the only goal on my todo list. Other may get done, but that is what I want to offer you today. May it be pleasing in your sight. In Jesus Name Amen
