"Luke 17:12-19 (AMP) 12 And as He was going into one village, He was met by ten lepers, who stood at a distance. 13 And they raised up their voices and called, Jesus, Master, take pity and have mercy on us! 14 And when He saw them, He said to them, Go [at once] and show yourselves to the priests. And as they went, they were cured and made clean. 15 Then one of them, upon seeing that he was cured, turned back, recognizing and thanking and praising God with a loud voice; 16 And he fell prostrate at Jesus’ feet, thanking Him [over and over]. And he was a Samaritan. 17 Then Jesus asked, Were not [all] ten cleansed? Where are the nine? 18 Was there no one found to return and to recognize and give thanks and praise to God except this alien? 19 And He said to him, Get up and go on your way. Your faith (your trust and confidence that spring from your belief in God) has restored you to health. "
Observation 1. 10 Lepers cry out for healing 2. Jesus tells them to show themselves to the priest and AS THEY WENT, THEY WERE CURED 3. Only one leper (a Samaratan), comes back to praise Jesus for healing him. 4. He fell at Jesus feet, thanked him over and over and praised him with a loud voice. 5. Jesus comments about the lack of faith from the 9 6. Jesus states that the samaitans faith has restored him to health.
APPLICATION I want to start a thanksgiving list. Things from the past, or things from the present, and add to it each Sunday when I spend extra time with the Lord. I want to have a more thankful heart. I want to praise God for all that he has done. I want to notice more when God has blessed me not only with answered prayers, but when he has done superabundantly above all I can ask or think. PRAYER Lord, you have done so much in my life. You not only answer in the affirmative so many prayers, but you also do super-abundantly above all I ask or thank. You got rid of$40,000 debt so that I could become a missionary. You helped my oldest son want to go to Wheaton when he wasn't even following you. You helped my sons to do well in their careers. You helped my sons and I to survive a divorce, and to heal up so that we can be used by you in others lives. You now are leading me to a new city to minister. You are providing my financial needs so that I lack nothing. You are revealing yourself to me in new ways, even after I've been following you for more than 50 years. You are working in non-Christians lives around me. You are and have been faithful, even when at times I've been faithless. Lord, thank you. Thank you for coming through for me time, and time again. And thank you for pursuing me, encouraging me, and not abandoning me, when my faith flounders during testing times. I love you Lord. Amen
Title: Everyone Will Know - God Rescues Mentor: David
S: 1 Sam 17:47 "And everyone assembled here will know that the Lord rescues his people, but not with sword and spear. This is the Lord's battle, and he will give you to us!"
O: David was displaying huge faith in God as he physically or by what you could see was fighting an impossible fight, to defeat Goliath . He knew that this also was more than a battle between Him and Goliath, this was to testify to Gods greatness. God uses supernatural weapons to rescue his people.
A: Many people are watching my battles. They look to see how I fight them. Am I testifying to God's greatness in my battles? Am I fighting these battles with Gods supernatural weapons or my own flesh.
P: Jesus I want to slay the giants of my life for your glory and I can do that by using your weapons and when victory comes, give you the credit and praise. Help me today to see this picture clearly and then to fight with your weapons and for your glory. IJN, Amen
Title: Those who know your name.. Scripture: Psalm 9:1,9,10
S: 1 Answer me when I call to you, O God who declares me innocent.Free me from my troubles. Have mercy on me and hear my prayer. 9.The Lord is a shelter for the oppressed, a refuge in times of trouble.10 Those who know your name trust in you, for you, O Lord , do not abandon those who search for you."
O: David packs a punch today. He says that God declares us innocent, now in Jesus. He frees us from troubles and is a shelter a refuge in times of trouble. He will not abandon us. If we know the name of the Lord we will trust in Jesus.
A: I need to know the name of the Lord. I need to search for God. I need to call on God. You are my justifier, you are my shelter, you are my refuge. you are always with me.
P: Lord I ask that you help me to study your names. Give me insight into your character through study of your name.
One in ten lepers are thankful.
