S: 1 Chronicles 16:11,27 "Search for the Lord and for his strength; continually seek him. Honor and majesty surround him; strength and joy fill his dwelling."
O: David had brought back the Ark of the Covenant and was being very careful as to how it was treated. He again breaks out into spontaneous praise. One of his areas of focus is God's strength. He says in verse 11 to search for the Lord AND God's strength; continually seek him. So it seems that it is alright to search for an attribute of God, his sustaining power, his help, his strength. Then in verse 27 it says that strength fills his dwelling. The Israelites in the past and future had lost dependence on God's strength, they thought they could do it alone.
A/P: Jesus I need your strength and joy today. I need to pursue you and your strength. Sustain me today, I depend on you to help me. Help me as an Elder to fulfill my role and do the necessary things I am entrusted to do. Give me strength to pursue discipleship and growing closer to you at home and developing this at church.
I need your strength at home as a father and husband. I need your sustaining hand at work to do what I am supposed to do. I need your help as an ambassador of yours throughout the day, with whomever I come in contact with. Give me joy in the process. You are the lifter of my head. IJN, Amen
S: Matthew 19:14 "But Jesus said, "Let the children come to me. Don't stop them! For the Kingdom of Heaven belongs to those who are like these children."
O: Jesus wanted the children to come to him and he said that we are to be like children. A child comes to their parent for comfort, for love, for protection and for answers to their questions.
A/P: Jesus I come to you tonight for comfort, for protection, for love and for answers to my questions. You are like my parents to me. In your bame, amen
